About the Artist
Sienna Browne is an artist at Cal State University Long Beach. She is a fourth year Drawing and Painting BFA and plans to graduate the spring of 2020. Sienna has been drawing ever since she was a kid and her creativity has evolved as she has aged. While feeling a sense of healing through her work, Sienna’s artistic practice is a way of working through the challenges of her past. Aside from art, she is a beach lifeguard, middle school youth leader, and Instructional Student Assistant for the art department at LBSU.
Formal Analysis
Her work is often brightly colored with vivid imagery. The pieces are seemingly large with and arguably fall into the abstraction category. Speaking of categories, he has a series of pieces named “Ultraviolet Triptych” that glow in the dark. One of her glow in the dark pieces are shown up above named “Jasmine – Night”. Personally, these are my favorite works of art from her selection. The way the colors pop out are really cool and trippy.
Content Analysis
According to Sienna, her work is intrinsically part of herself. Her pieces provide a “visual history” of the places she’s been and what has impacted her. At her exhibition, she has the intent to have her audience symbolically parallel the walk she had with her disorder and process unpacking her beliefs and experiences. One of her philosophies is that acknowledging past creations and observing how her work has evolved is fascinating and humbling.
My Experience
Sienna’s work is pretty awesome! I love all the detail and beautiful colors she chooses in her pieces. I agree how art can be a way of showing how you ave evolved as an individual. How here work represents what she’s been through really resonated with me. One of her images on her website hat display her eating disorder blew me away. Overall, she’s an amazing artist with crazy talent. It’s only up from here for her. (:
