Why did you choose this piece? I feel like it shows the pollution over Los Angeles well. Hiking to the Hollywood sign was cool, but it was very sad to see all the smog destroying the natural beauty of the scenery.
What did you hope to communicate? I hope to communicate the climate change is fast and present as many of us are aware. Not only is it destroying the natural beauty of this planet, but its seriously damaging the ecosystems that support are way of living.
How successful do you think you were? My picture could be better. At first glance, it just looks like a photo over a city. However, giving it a second glance, one can see the thick layer of smog hovering over Los Angeles.
What would you do different if you did it again? Take a high quality photo of the smog layer so the viewer can easily understand what the image is trying to say.
What is another idea you might explore through “shocking art”? I would like to possibly have an audience feel a certain way rather than understanding what the image is saying. Sometimes evoking an emotion can be easier to pass a thought than acknowledgment.
